Taking A Moment

Breezy days and bygone memories

Beautiful day clicked by Anu Anniah. Photo from my balcony.

Somewhat cloudy
Breezy, very breezy
The wind howls
Through slits in the windows
“Let me in”
“Let me curl around you”
“Wrap you in my cool embrace”

The leaves are flapping
They look ridiculously happy
Laughing, chattering
Maybe they know what’s coming next
Rain, glorious rain
Or maybe, they just love the coolth of
The exuberant wind

I sit still, taking it all in
The howling, the flapping
The wind in my hair as it
Dashes everywhere through the house
Inspecting every corner
Lifting untethered pieces of paper
Hurling them to the ground
Unattended brown paper bags
Find themselves all over the floor
I can hear the wind laughing
Rolling on the floor laughing
A naughty child playing pranks

I go back in time
Younger days
School days
Summer vacation
The same wind rushing through the house
Carefree days
The wind stayed young

I take a moment
To savor the memory
Mum in the kitchen
Dog at my feet
I am enjoying the breeze back in time
Just as I enjoy it today, here, now
Today’s breeze made me young and carefree
Just for a moment
The same breeze, the same feeling
Many many years apart
